What is single weight line illustration?

Single weight line art (AKA Monoline) is a design trend that uses lines of one thickness to build stunning, geometric, patterned artwork. This beautifully balanced style is paradoxically simple & complex at the same time as it uses detailed patterns in large areas as if they were blocks of color & tone. Getting the balance right can be a tough challenge & this is where the Line Art Lab comes in:

I spent countless hours developing the brushes & patterns together so that they work in harmony, I’ve ensured that the range of resources is diverse & expansive so, you’ll always find the right tool for creating art in this decorative & intricate style, & the patterns have been graded into three tonal groups so you can use them to add depth to designs quickly & easily.

The pack contains all of these fantastic components:

The Brushes

This huge & diverse selection features over 100 brushes. These range from outlines, floral, banners, arrows, waves, zigzags, chains, borders & beyond. The majority of the brushes are pattern brushes.

If you are a tablet user, you’ll be pleased to know that a version of the brushes with pressure sensitivity enabled is included (please note that this feature only works in Illustrator CS5+).

The Patterns

Over 100 decorative patterns are included. You’ll find geometric, linear, stars, waves, herringbone, scales, chevrons & many more. The patterns have been graded into groups of density – so you can use them to create tonal contrast within your designs.

All patterns were created using only strokes so, you can adjust the weight if required. Instructions on how to do this are included.

This will help you quickly find the right brushes & patterns for the task in hand. Please note: This feature is available for CS5, CS6 & CC only. A PDF version has been included for Illustrator CS1-4 users.
